From masks and scrubs, to creams and toners, the world of skincare products is overwhelming even to those who work within it! Our holistic esthetician Martina says to start with the basics: cleaners, exfoliant, moisturizer. If you don’t have these three skin-nourishing products in your daily routine then it really doesn’t do much good to spend time or money on the extras. Like fitness and nutrition, healthy skin requires creating a basic foundation first and getting more specific and fine-tuned after that. SPF is important during the day as well to protect the skin from sun exposure. Martina also emphasizes the importance of high quality ingredients in your skincare products since they are all being absorbed straight into your bloodstream by your largest organ (your skin). She recommends looking for companies that are all or mostly organic, and that use plant components rather than synthetic ingredients.
Here are Martina’s favorite products from Naturopathica (which is the company we carry for facials here at the Wellness Center):
